"We had two great experiences with Wine Tourism. One was a dinner with clients in a fancy restaurants in Lisbon, And one was an entire day with trips to vineyards with a lunch, several wine tastings and a great dinner to finish things off. Mariana who helped us has been great, even if I was a bit slow in answering emails and getting back. I will definitely ask for marianas help in the future!"
Starting in Lisbon, with a Private driver, you will have the opportunity to discover some of the best wine producers of the region.
The first stop will be at Adega Mãe. Located in the Parish of Ventosa, has an area of approximately 40 ha.(98 ac.) devoted to vines and a production capacity of 1.2 million litres per year, thus giving rise to a full range of wines. Adega Mãe is a temple erected to wine and the worship associated with it. It is a Cellar of the future, equipped with the most advanced equipment for an optimal production regarding its resources. You will have the opportunity to discover the property through a guided visit. Indulge in a tapas-style lunch, including codfish ceviche and traditional sweet bean pastry and a wine tasting of 6 wines.
After the wine experience, lunch is waiting for you at Quinta do Gradil. This is one of the oldest estates of Cadaval and the Lisbon Wine Region, it has secular historical landmarks. It is thought that the Marquis of Pombal would have acquired the Quinta do Gradil in 1760, although the earliest references date back to 1492, the year of the document that D. Martinho de Noronha received from the King João II, the donation letter of the jurisdiction and rents of the Cadaval County and Quinta do Gradil. Located about 50 km from Lisbon, between the sea and the mountains, its landscape invites to quietness and harmony between the wines and nature. Enjoy a guided visit with wine tasting of 4 Wines Quinta do Gradil Selection.
The tour continues with a Drive/Walking tour in Óbidos. Located on high ground near the Atlantic coast, Óbidos has had a strategic importance in the territory. It had already been settled prior to the Romans’ arrival in the Iberian Peninsula, and the town prospered after being chosen by the royal family. King Dinis offered it to his wife, Queen Isabel, in the 13th century, and it became part of Casa das Rainhas (Queens’ Estate), who improved and enriched it throughout the various dynasties. This is one of the main reasons for the high concentration of churches in this small place. You will find a well preserved castle within the walls, and a maze of streets and white houses that are a delight to stroll amongst. Along with the Manueline porticoes, the colourful window boxes and the small squares, many fine examples of religious and civil architecture from the town’s golden days provide a host of reasons for making a visit. You can't leave without tasting the famous Ginjinha de Óbidos.
