QUINTA E HOTEL RURAL MADRE DE ÁGUAIn the surroundings of the Serra da Estrela, Hotel Rural Quinta Madre Water offers the most authentic experiences and differentiates the Region.
Surrounded by beautiful vineyards inserted in the Dão region, the Madre de Água Rural Hotel was opened in November 2012, and it is the ideal getaway for those who want to relax.
Located in Gouveia, near the village of Vinhó, and just a few minutes from the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, this family hotel is a dream come true for its owners. The hotel’s concept was developed by the architect Jorge Bonifácio, its implementation was by the office of Palmer Greco and its decoration was done by architect Ana Reimão Pinto.
The Farm and Hotel are set on 60 hectares consisting of a vineyard, olive grove, orchard, forest, organic garden, and fields of red fruits. The construction of a cheese dairy, winery, and cellar is part of the project in the short term. Although the wines are recent, some are already holders of the Awards Committee of Dão Wine.
The microclimate where the farm is located, potency in the atmosphere and soil the ability to obtain agricultural products, and the Bordaleira Serra da Estrela sheep cheese with a unique terroir where the mountain and sub-region of Dão are blended.

The rooms and common area’s decor are welcoming, and its soft colors, ranging from earth tones, white and violet. It has 10 cozy rooms – all with names of Portuguese grape varieties – and, for those who want more privacy, an apartment, and a studio are available a little farther from the hotel. Comfort is evident, as well as the service quality and friendliness of a specialized team always helpful.
The Winery and Hotel Rural Madre de Água offers its guests/customers the ability to perform massage services and also enjoy guided tours around the farm and learn by observing and participating in the agricultural and farming activities, such as milking, shearing, adjustment of load, defoliation of the vines, harvest, olive picking, cherry-picking, harvesting garden produce biological, pruning, etc.
Spending time with animals is also one of the attractions on this farm, which offers to the customers the possibility of enjoying the company of the Serra da Estrela Portuguese dog breed, faithful companion of shepherds, sheep Bordaleira Serra de Estrela, indigenous animals with which their milk is produced the famous cheese Serra da Estrela, the mountainous goats, horses and Lusitanian Britons and all the wild animals that roam the farm and give life and dynamic in a day passed in the Farm.

The Restaurant of Quinta e Hotel Rural Madre de Água offers a kitchen and tableware of the highest quality. The Restaurant of the farm creates a close relationship between the finest local meat producers and meat sausages with what is in the garden and orchards of the farm. On the menu, we find the brand wines from Quinta da Madre de Água and their high quality and excellence.
Meeting Rooms
The Meeting Rooms, Serra da Estrela is the old mill and an ideal location for meetings in an environment of nature and intimacy. The living room has seating for about 14 people.
