Quinta do Portal is a Portuguese and independent family company that has embraced with passion the concept of Boutique Winery and is dedicated to the production of DOC Douro wines, premium quality Port wines and Muscat.

The family MansilhaBranco, owner of Quinta do Portal, is a producer of wines in the Douro Region since immemorial times (the first reference we have dates back to 1477) and has always been linked to its key moments, such as the establishment of the General Company for the Agriculture of the Alto Douro Vineyards on the 10th September 1756, which originated the first demarcated region in the world, led by Frei (Brother) João de Mansilha. At present, the agricultural heritage consists of five Farms (Quinta do Portal, Quinta dos Muros, Quinta do Confradeiro, Quinta da Abelheira e Quinta das Manuelas), located in The Pinhão River Valley, adding up more than one hundred hectares of vineyards (247 ac.).

Located in the Douro Region, more precisely in Celeirós, in the municipality of Sabrosa, the house «Casa das Pipas» is the enotourism proposal that Quinta do Portal presents to all that appreciate relaxation while enjoying the surroundings that lead to the production of the best wines of the company.

Casa das Pipas was awarded the Prémio da Chave Verde (Green Key Prize) in 2012 and 2013. Quinta do Portal won the Best Of Wine tourism award in 2012 regarding the Aging Warehouse, a project of the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. Casa das Pipas and Casa do Lagar are the proposed accommodation at Quinta do Portal, offering a total of 16 rooms. Casa das Pipas has 12 rooms: 3 superiors and 9 standard rooms. Casa do Lagar has 4 rooms: 2 familiar and 2 doubles.

Quinta do Portal also offers its guests a wine library, board games, breakfast room, swimming pool, outdoor terrace and a panoramic living room, located on the 1st floor, with a nice view of the vineyards landscape that stretches far out of sight, with grape bunches as décor and small green gardens where roses and other species of rare beauty grow.

The sense of warmth creates an essential place for those who value relaxation and a close relationship with the bucolic and romantic atmosphere, which is also a characteristic of this region. Still, the joy of a good swimming pool is not overlooked, as well as a personalized service, which is, as a matter of fact, one of the main features of this enotourism project.


Aging Warehouse
The warehouse where the wines Quinta do Portal age, is part of a complex that was previously built, an agricultural unit that dominates and is dominated by the landscape. It is by nature a disciplined building, where the functional, spatial and thermal needs determine its expression.

Restaurant Quinta do Portal
The restaurant is in a 1996 building, divided into a wine bar; a small interpretation centre of the vineyard and harvest labor around a small garden with a granite fountain; a dining room for up 100 people; a private room with capacity for 15 people, a porch where 30 people can be seated; and an outdoor space ornamented with the typical vegetation, surrounded by the vineyards and olive groves that wrap the property, where is also possible to hold events.

At Quinta do Portal we have ideal conditions to organize a diversity of events like company meetings, team-building weekends, conferences, new product showcases, weddings, birthday parties, family gatherings, concerts, etc.
Our auditorium has a 74-person seating capacity.

Location & Directions
From Porto or Bragança, take the exit for the freeway A24 towards Viseu. If you come from South, take the freeway A24 and exit in Vila Real / Zona Industrial / Aeródromo. Follow the directions to Sabrosa. Quinta do Portal is on the left side of the road that links Sabrosa to Pinhão, just after Celeirós.
