Serenada Enoturismo, Winery
Outeiro André - Sobreiras Altas, 7570-345, Grândola - Peninsula de Setúbal
Set on the Atlantic slope of Serra de Grândola, ten kilometres away from the seafront, Serenada belongs to the same family since the 17th century, according to a will dated of 1686.
The property, with only 23 ha. (56 ac.), is dedicated to the viticulture since 1961, year when the first vineyard was planted - and it still is productive -followed by a new vine plantation in 2008. The old vines, planted by the father of the current owner, led to a passion for the wine, and now the third generation is now taking their first steps. In a family of women linked to science, this one merges with the traditions and knowledge of the past, resulting in the authenticity of the wines Serras de Grândola and Serras de Grândola Cepas Cinquentenárias, stand out for by their freshness, minerality, complexity and elegance.
Surrounded by centennial olive trees, a wide area of cork oaks and the largest extension of pine trees in the country, the vineyards are located about 10 Km of the seafront, on the Miocene and Piocene moorland of the rivers Tejo and Sado. At an average altitude of 150 m, they are strongly influenced by the Atlantic breeze, which provides the necessary night freshness for a proper maturation. The great minerality of the soil, with a predominance of iron and shale, complement this particular location.
The old vines field blend is a magnificent ampelographic collection, with both local and old grape varieties, that originate the concentrated aromas of red fruits.
We can find on the 4.2 ha. of vines seven red grape varieties - Castelão, Bastardo, Camarate, Baga, Carignan, Touriga Nacional and Aragonez – and ten white varieties – Fernão Pires, Rabo de Ovelha, Trincadeira das Pratas, Malvasia Fina, Bical, Diagalves, Verdelho, Gouveio, Arinto and Viognier.
Although the production is small, the diversified number of grape varieties makes us think about the potential of each plot.
To the Wines Serras de Grândola joined, in June 2013, the agro-tourism project, the "Serenada Enoturismo", a small housing unit where comfort and sophistication live together with tradition and rusticity. The boutique spirit is transversal, influencing how wine is made and how the visitor is welcome.
Has a meeting room with capacity for 30 people.
