In Detail

Headquartered in Quinta de Valbom, 2 km from the historic center of Évora, World Heritage city, and 200 metres of the Cartuxa Convent which inspired its name, the Wine Tourism Cartuxa is located in the former refectory of the Jesuit retirement home, they taught at the University of Évora in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. With his expulsion in 1759, by order of the Marquis of Pombal, the property became part of the state, starting a few years later, in 1776, working as an important mill of wine absorbed the wine production in the region. Acquired in the nineteenth century by Eugénio de Almeida family, the Cartuxa Cellar has undergone several renovations and expansions over time, preserving the richness of its architectural and historical memory. The Cartuxa Cellar - Quinta Valbom is now one of the stage centers of the wines produced by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation.

The Cartuxa brand is the principal activity of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation and the umbrella brand of the Cartuxa Winery, Cartuxa Olive oil and Cartuxa Wine Tourism. The logo identifies wines such as Vinea, EA, Foral de Évora, Cartuxa, Scala Coeli and the legendary Pêra-Manca, as well as the olive oils Álamos, EA and Cartuxa Gourmet.

Excellence, quality and individuality in a style of its own, is what marks the difference and defines a classic Alentejo. These are also the values recognised by consumers of the Cartuxa brand, and the strength of the name and its positive connotations are what keeps them loyal to our products.Wine, Olive Oil and Wine Tourism like wise embody the same values.

The effort Fundação Eugénio de Almeida Foundation has poured into creating excellent products has been recognised over the years with various prizes.

Portugal é surpreendente, por sua gente, cultura (gastronomia, música e história), lindo na sua geografia privilegiada e arquitetura marcante. Preços honestos, estradas perfeitas e clima esplêndido. Adorável talvez seja modesto para qualificar este país.
