Set off towards the Ferrão Halt, Wine Tourism in Portugal will give you the opportunity to visit this magnificent wine region. Only by train you can enjoy the best views of the Douro Valley. At Ferrão halt, transportation is waiting for you to drop you off at Quinta Nova Luxury Winery House "one of the nine must-see wineries in the world"- American Airlines. Precisely 250 years ago, the traditional winery Quinta Nova, was harvesting their first grapes. This is, undoubtedly, one of the oldest wineries in the Douro region, producing Port wine for the estate and for many other plots of farmers and neighboring estates, given its large size. Here you will have two options: a visit in detail to all the production of the award winning wines, the fantastic vineyard, the winery of 1764, the underground Wine Cellar and end your visit with a tasting of 3 wines in the store.
After the wine experience, lunch is waiting for you at the Conceitus Restaurant (Quinta Nova Restaurant). The basic idea of the Chef José Pinto is to create a concept in which wines command gastronomy, an appeal that values the flavours of the local gastronomy, using the best that nature has to offer in each season. This is the "local food", which assumes the sustainability and the preservation of the local food resources. In this restaurant, the menu "4 Moments” appeals to the senses and emotions, in a relaxed and curious way. The proposals are different every day and guests never know the menu, letting themselves be guided by the inspiration of Chef (Drinks not included). After the visit and lunch, take again the train, this is one of the most beautiful stages of the train journey parallel to the river, the beauty of the vineyards is incomparable.
Head towards the Pinhão Railway Station which is considered one of the most beautiful in the whole Portugal, its exterior walls are decorated with Tile Panels depicting the Port Wine Theme. Nearby is situated the Quinta da Roêda.CROFT PORT is one of the most distinguished of all Port houses. Founded in 1588, it is the oldest firm still active today as a Port wine producer. The company is renowned above all for its Vintage Ports as well as for its range of wood aged reserves and tawnies, time-honoured styles refined by skill and experience passed down the generations. But in spite of its rich heritage and history spanning over four centuries, Croft has never been constrained by tradition. Today, as in the past, it maintains a pioneering spirit, continuing to create innovative new styles such as Croft Pink, the first ever rosé Port.Have a guided tour to the vineyard and traditional "lagares”,with a tasting of PINK, Reserva and Tawny 10 year androasted almonds.
